Sullivan Street Polaroids

1984 - 1985

When friends and visitors came over to my garden studio on Sullivan Street in Soho, Lower Manhattan, at some uncertain point I would surprise photograph them at close range with my OneStep Polaroid Camera which was hidden behind my back.

The instant print went into the album immediately and I asked each person to write whatever they like into the little caption box.
